In Leo's show, he states how he hopes that Windows 7 will be better than it's predecessors. Then he proceeds to give Microsoft recommendations on avoiding past mistakes, such as version confusion, security, etc.
What really was a huge mistake was his assertion that Windows was engineered prior to a time where security risks were non existent- so Microsoft was relying on the goodness of people. This notion, of course, is absurd!
I'm not sure how you can excuse two decades of VERY poor engineering of the most vulnerable and unstable operating system ever. If we give Microsoft a pass on the security side, we still cannot forgive them for such a comparatively poor family of products.
Windows, all version, have a historical track record of freezing, slowing down, and playing poorly with peripherals and other devices.
Will OSX and Linux users go running to Windows 7?
Only if these two systems disappear from the face of the earth, something that Microsoft has been working very hard to do.
Now Leo, I expect you to say to your audience that because Linux has 1%, and OSX 5%, of the PC market, that these system could not possibly be as good as Windows.

LOL ... That's right, Leo is way too Windows biased ... LOL
I assume that you are a new listener. After you have listened awhile longer you will see that Leo is never shy about talking about the shortcomings of Windows. I think he is just trying to say how much better 7 will be than its recent predecessors.

Well Dolphbucs, I have listened to Leo on occasion and he does state that he will "... talk about Windows, and of course OSX and Linux ..." so I'm expecting a balanced, accurate, and objective point of view with regards to technology.
I am yet to hear any mention of current developments on anything relating to open source projects.

Try listening to FLOSS Weekly, Leo's podcast covering open source projects .. he even has another called TWiG ( This Week in Google ) covering all Google endeavors. Leo has stated several times in the chats and during breaks on the TWiT live video feed that he tends to not talk about open source on the radio show by design. The radio show is the one show of his that is designed for a general audience ( many of whom may not be as tech-savy as you or I ) and it is also the one show that he does not own ( Premiere Radio does ) and as many in the general public have never even heard of Linux or open source he has to be careful about how he sneaks in that info ... but he is trying.
BTW, my last post was referring to the fact that Leo very often gets attacked for being too "anti-windows" and is often referred to as being a "Mac Fanboy". Yours was the first post I have ever seen that implied he was being too lenient towards Windows. Thus my comments.

I believe Leo has long been a advocate of OS X for home use. Leo would always get called a Mac Fanboy for telling people windows for work and Mac for home.
I believe his recent fascination with windows 7 is that it is the best Windows OS so far and it's new and shiny. Leo seem to always like new and shinny.

Windows... for WHAT?? 11-07-09 05:10 PM - Post#188439

LOL... Let's get this straight; Mac for home and a crappy OS for work?
OK, lets use the most vulnerable, unstable, poorly engineered OS for mission-critical projects. Now, that's a funny joke!
The fact is that Windows will forever remain the ugly pig that gets all the viruses, trojans, BSOD et al. And how about all the lost productivity due to inexplicable freezes or degraded performance- and the lost hours calling IT?
I have a better idea: Let's recommend a secure, stable, and reliable computer with Linux or Mac for important work-related tasks.

You're preaching to the choir here. But like it or not it is a Windows world. A vast majority of businesses still use Windows and I think that when Leo says "Windows for business" it is more of a "bone" to the Windows users out there than an actual endorsement of the OS. If you work for a company that insists you use Windows, you have to do it. Let's keep in mind that the Radio Show is a Nationally Syndicated program and, like it or not, to sustain that show there needs to be a large audience. There are many more Windows users out there than other OS'es and Leo has to be careful not to alienate that segment of his audience. Also, the radio Show is Leo's main source of income, so he really can't afford to get too radical. That being said, Leo still gives the Mac and Linux much more credit than the other nationally syndicated tech show out there.
Like I said before, check out Leo's many podcasts ... that will give you a better view of his opinions.
